Can PCD grinding shoes grind concrete?
Yes, but it's not their primary purpose. PCD shoes are designed for coating removal and surface preparation, not fine concrete grinding. During coating removal, PCD shoes will also take off a thin layer of concrete surface – this is to open up a clean surface for subsequent work, not for leveling.

Grinding concrete only, no coatings → standard diamond grinding shoes.
When standard diamond grinding shoes remove coatings, friction generates high heat – coatings (especially epoxy and adhesives) melt and stick to the shoe surface. The shoe slows down and eventually stops cutting entirely – must stop and clean.
Why doesn't PCD clog?
① Different working principle: PCD scrapes rather than grinds. It "peels" coatings off like a blade, rather than melting them through friction heat.
② Self‑sharpening: PCD is made of tiny diamond crystals – during use, crystals constantly fracture to expose fresh sharp edges, maintaining cutting ability.
③ Doesn't stick: PCD's scraping action doesn't generate the high heat that melts coatings – coating fragments fall off directly, not sticking to the shoe surface.
Bottom line: PCD grinding shoes don't clog, don't require frequent cleaning – continuous operation.
